We’ve talked about her wokeness, how she’s not afraid to speak up and out about diverse beauty standards, mainly including Black women, and issues that affect the Black community. She’s far more than just a pretty face. And when it’s not every day that people use their platform to say something, we’re glad she’s made it her mission to do so. And while that is certainly more important than the physical, today we’re here to celebrate all of the looks Ebonee has given us since she competed on “America’s Next Top Model” and wrote that letter to Harper’s Bazaar about the fashion industry. Curlfest is an example of what happens when Black women realize the power in creating our own spaces where we can celebrate one another, rather than begging others to create space for us. THIS is what we need. It was a reminder that freedom in created, not given. Never in my life have I seen so many unapologetic Black women in one place.
