Not long ago, Tia Mowry talked about how she’d put on a few pounds and out of nowhere, found herself being body shamed by people on social media. Those body shamers included other women. In March of 2016, the actress caught a follower saying, “getting fat” and confronted the young woman in epic fashion:
More than a year later, Mowry, who changed her diet drastically after finding out that she had endometriosis, has lost 20 pounds. On a current family vacation to Hawaii, the 39-year-old showed off that weight loss, her glowing skin and some fresh new braids while posing in a very cute bikini:
The mind behind the cookbook Whole New You, Mowry told PEOPLE that she no longer consumes processed foods and dairy, and instead, opts for whole, healthy foods. Her favorites include gluten-free pancakes, smoothies, fish, vegetables, and fermented foods that aid in relieving the pains that come with endometriosis, particularly miso, sauerkraut and kimchi. Mowry also loves all things kale. The actress’ staple is a kale and almond fried rice dish she makes. As she told the publication, “What I eat and what I put into my body is extremely important to me.”
Not to mention that Mowry has also been working out more. She sometimes trains with her younger brother, Tavior, and she’s still a big yoga fan:
But if you ask Mowry how you too can lose 20 pounds, she’ll likely tell you to do what she did — putting together clean meals out her cookbook:
Oh, and occasionally making space and time for an ice cream cone, of course:
