WENN
A year--or maybe a year and a half ago, I had no idea who Adwoa Aboah was. I stumbled across her in a YouTube doing an interview, more on that later. Since then, I keep seeing her around...the internet. And the more I learn about her, the more I realize just how dope she is and how much she's using her platform to empower other girls and women. See what I mean.

Founded Gurls Talk
The video explains it all. Adwoa's organization was founded with the mission to get girls to share in hopes that others would be encouraged and inspired by their shared or diverse experiences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B1nHj-Ob0YShe Keeps The Letter She Wrote To Herself In Rehab On Her Fridge
We're certainly not mad about that Hug Life zine either.Or Diversity in the industry
Aboah shared these thoughts with HypeBae: "It has to be something people prioritize — it should be the number-one priority. Representing all types of beauty, all types of shapes and sizes. I don’t think the people in power realize how detrimental it can be to a way a girl looks at herself if she flips through a magazine and only sees one type of woman. [Fashion] should take it more seriously — and I understand, you can’t change it all overnight. But it’s laziness that you’re not looking outside of the box and looking at what is right in front of you." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbBVmKOHausShe's Authentic
This StyleLikeU video is how I was introduced to Adwoa. Even though the title of the video explained that she was a model and she addressed it later on during the interview, she spent most of the time speaking about her struggles with drugs, depression and so much more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdXkEurbMv4She speaks openly about her suicide attempt
Adwoa shares that when she was struggling with depression and then attempted suicide, she expressed that she didn't feel like it was something she could share. But now that she's on the other side of things, she admits that talking was the key. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEbhUxPJBRoOn Self Love & Responsibility

The Cool
While we can do without the cigarette, she has a Chanel piece on her tooth, for God's sake. There's something very "your old drunk, but exceptionally wise uncle" about it. Vintage Black cool. The post 10 Reasons Adwoa Aboah Is More Than Just A Pretty Face appeared first on MadameNoire.
