In December, singer Marsha Ambrosius and fiancé Dez Billups welcomed their daughter Nyla into the world. She gave us a small glimpse at Nyla on Christmas, with mother, father and child all looking adorable in holiday onesies:
She has been inspired by the child’s arrival, writing the song “Don’t Wake the Baby” and taking her little one with her back out on tour. In case you missed it, in April Ambrosius showed us Nyla’s face, and as expected, she’s adorable — and a doppleganger of her mother.
Most recently, she and her soon-to-be husband packed up Nyla and gave her an experience all little kid’s dream of: a trip to Disneyworld. Granted, she’s only a few months old so she won’t remember any of it, but nonetheless, the pictures from their family trip were adorable. The captions for each featured lyrics from her latest long, “Luh Ya.” The track was actually co-written by Phillips.
In March she gushed to VH1 about how motherhood has been for her so far.
“Amazingly, beautifully, terrifying and gratifying all at the same time,” she said. “You have a new life that came into this world out of love, me and her father wanting this to be a reality, and now that she’s here it’s like, oh my goodness. Wow! We’re parents. I’m a mother. I gave birth to a child. And it’s so overwhelming. It’s like starting life all over again. I get to watch all of my Disney movies all over again through new eyes. My ABC’s and 1-2-3’s and all of these melodies that my kid doesn’t know yet. If her dad is singing to her, or dancing, or playing with her it’s all brand new to this human being, this new human being that’s ours, so that by itself is just so beautiful. So exhausting, but so worth it! Like every sleepless night, every moment is like a new moment, you know? It’s amazing.”
